What happens when you heat M&M's? Freeze them? Soak them in water? Soak them in vinegar? Be curious and explore! I love that there are no right/wrong things to try (just like all the Toca Boca apps) and that you can run all the processes on all the elements and see which ones get interesting results. My favorite is Nickel (Ni) which sounds very Monty Python-esque.). This app is an interesting mix of scientifically accurate details (the periodic table has all of the correct element abbreviations and atomic weights in their proper places), "creative elaborations" (I'm fairly certain that heating oxygen doesn't make nitrogen, but scientist readers can correct me if I'm wrong about that), and silly little extras (the elements each make a different noise and after awhile, I realized that the noises were the elements saying their own names. Summary: Discover the periodic table of elements (well, sorta) by running experiments on little cute cartoon representations of all the different elements. ![]() Platform: iOS (Apple) and Android (Google Play and Amazon) ![]()
